An "Out of this World" Newborn Session: Baby Jacob {South Riding, VA Newborn Photographer}

From the moment I walked into Alyssa and Michael's home for their lifestyle newborn session, I knew that it was going to be one of those sessions where I walked away with a friend.  Alyssa was so warm and genuine that I felt like I had known her for years.  Our kids are right around the same ages so we had so much to talk about!  Baby Jacob was just the sweetest little guy, with the roundest "kiss me" cheeks and dark brown hair.  He gave his mom and dad a little bit of a hard time at the hospital (the doctors kept him a little longer than expected in an overabundance of caution) but he couldn't have been more easy-going during our session.  Big brother, Ethan, was a little unsure of what to think of the newest addition, but was just cute as a button.  At one point, he gave Jacob quite the look and said, "No baby."  Sorry, buddy.  I think Baby Jacob will stick around for awhile ;-)  I have no doubt that Ethan is an amazing big brother and that they will be the very best of friends.

I think that traditional newborn photography where the babies are posed and peacefully sleeping on a beanbag is so stunning, but there is something about lifestyle sessions that just suits me so much better.  It's about the story of those first days back home, the connections being formed, the pride on parents' faces, and the details of the nursery that was planned long before that sweet baby came into this world.  It goes by in the blink of an eye!  Without documenting it with a lifestyle session, some of these memories might get buried in those hazy, blurry moments.  I mean, check out this nursery!!!  Alyssa's mother is an artist who specializes in custom wall murals.  She lovingly took inspiration from a quilt that Alyssa chose for Baby Jacob and designed a mural for his nursery.  It was so beautiful!  It was such a pleasure meeting her while she helped watch Jacob during our 'baby only' shots.  (Helpful session tip:  Ask a family member/friend to help assist with older siblings during lifestyle newborn sessions!)
